Puritas Springs Software
Recent versions of the Mac OSX have Gatekeeper set to prohibit applications that are not purchased at the App Store or from certain identified developers. Although all our Mac apps are code signed as secure, authentic Mac software, if you have a problem running the application it may be necessary to make sure OSX will allow you to install an application that was not purchased at the app store.
The first thing to do is go to the System Preferences window by clicking on the apple icon in the upper left and selecting System Preferences …. In the System Preferences window, click the Security & Privacy icon. On the Security & Privacy page, in the Allow apps downloaded from section, see if there’s a radio button labeled Anywhere.
If there is:
Click the lock icon in the lower left. Enter your password if so prompted. You will now be able to check the Anywhere button. Click the lock icon again to prevent further changes.
If there isn’t:
1. Close the Security & Privacy dialog. System Preference should be exited.
2. Go to the Applications folder and click Utilities. In the Utilities folder you’ll see the Terminal app. Double-click the Terminal app.
3. In the Terminal window type: sudo spctl --master-disable
4. When you press the enter or return key, you’ll probably need to enter your password. NOTE: Your will not give you feedback as you enter your Mac password. Don't worry about that. Enter your password and press <Enter>. That should work.
5. If everything went as expected, you can now go back to the Security & Privacy dialog again and you’ll see the Anywhere radio button under the other two. Click the lock icon in the lower left. Enter your password if so prompted. You should be able to check the Anywhere button. Click the lock icon again to prevent further changes.
